THE LAW ON PROSTITUTION AND YOUR SAFETY

As you are probably aware the law on prostitution has changed.

it is legal to visit a lady in their own in her own home, if there are 2 girls working from premises at the same time it is classed as a brothel, police now have the power to enter the premises and prosecute the client and press charges and are now trying to name and shame clients caught in the premises.

 

Police have been working in partnership with local Estate Agents to remind them to be vigilant of any suspicious activity happening in their rental properties. We would encourage landlords to keep  eyes and ears open  and advise us if they have reason to believe such activity is taking place.”

It is an offence under the Sexual Offences Act 1956, section 34, for a landlord to let premises knowing that they are to be used as a brothel, or to wilfully allow their continued use as a brothel.

Any landlord convicted of this offence is liable to between three to six months imprisonment
and/or a fine of up to £2,500.
